Why do you say that? CIeLab is based on measurements of the numbers of cones, which don’t change in just a few generations.

because there is not just CIELAB to consider. Maybe I want something which is Nevanlinna theoretic sensitive. Maybe I want an impressionistic filter? Maybe the display device has a strange color model.
