It's Newton or Newton-Raphson no matter what the function is. Pade approximants are something else: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padé_approximant …. (aside: oh, that gives me an idea If G(x,n) is a Pade approximant for some function, look at G(x,1)q -G(x,2)q^2 +G(x,3)q^3 )
