New Business Traveller exemption: From 4am on Sat 5th Dec high-value business travellers💼will no longer need to self-isolate when returning to ENGLAND from a country NOT in a travel corridor, allowing more travel to support the economy and jobs. Conditions apply.

Can the virus tell the difference between a high-value business traveller and others? Don't they all sit on the same plane / train? Please provide a scientifically based explanation.

No. Typically they'd be on a private jet, chauffeur car so isolated. Your probably more likely to come into contact with a carrier going to the supermarket than they are in their isolated bubble. I'm sure its already been happening on the QT anyway

@grantshapps whats the science behind this decision? I’m assuming they’ll be having Covid tests - if the general public are willing to pay for tests why shouldn’t we be able to travel without quarantine, I guess Healthcare staff, teachers, shop works etc aren’t high value 🤷🏼‍♀️😓

So COVID doesn't affect people if they are rich? Total garbage. If we had an effective track and trace system and an effective fast results testing system this could be available for all. But instead, you gave it to your mates. Who failed.

In a leak of this plan to The Sunday Times a few weeks ago high-value business travellers were described as “senior bankers, hedge fund managers and executives involved in high-value deals” who “come in private jets and have a chauffeur-driven car”. More favours for their mates..

Not just any business. Has to be high value business. This too likely defined along the same lines as Scotch eggs and substantial meals
