    The past 3 years, has let me mentor juniors from for a one month internship. I look forward to it, because I get to be the first person to show them what the marine world looks like under the scope. Here's a pic that one of our mentees captured recently

    Andreas Heyland and I will be teaching Comparative Invertebrate Embryology at FHL this summer from mid-July to mid-August. We'll be looking at many invertebrate phyla from fertilization, through cleavage, gastrulation, larva, and metamorphosis!

    A new microscope technique shows cells’ fine structure in new detail. The method, developed by Eric Betzig, Harald Hess + colleagues, combines 3D super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy in whole cells. Published today in Science!

    Our paper from larval biology course is out! and I quantified the vertical distribution of larval sand dollars, in columns with stratified layers of seawater varying in salinity and pH. We found larvae avoided acidified seawater
