Ilhan Omar might be the bravest woman in the country.

I mean. I like Ilhan Omar as much as the next person. But c'mon. There are lots of single mothers working 2 jobs in pretty awful situations. That's far more brave than being a national celebrity making nearly $200k annually.

So do public defenders, who make 1/3 of her salary and don't have a national celebrity.

I like Ilhan Omar. She does a great job. Her job is difficult, given the circumstances she's forced to work in. I just think it's silly to call her the bravest woman, given her salary/celebrity. Lots of women are doing hard work for pennies, in difficult conditions. That's all.

Buddy are you just trying to make a roundabout argument? Cuz it seems like it. This woman is regularly publicly castigated by neo-fascists. Yeah, PDs get death threats. For essentially the same reason. But they don’t have the same prominence as a Somali House Rep.

PDs and Omar have the same basic grievance: this system doesn’t work, tear it down, rebuild a fairer society. But PDs get flack from locals trying to make a message heard: they’re underfunded, over worked, they lose of AG/ADs (which has more to do with funding).

Everyone wants a better world. Omar has the platform, and thus, attracts more hate. PDs are hated by cops, Republicans, and Prosecutors. All three? Basically the same thing. Save @chesaboudin , the only good DA out there.
