In honor of Jackie Robinson breaking MLB's color barrier 73 years ago today, something I didn't know about him until just now: He thrived at Forbes Field, with a .342/.438/.543 slash. Wonder if Branch Rickey ever tried to deal for Robinson after he went to Pittsburgh in 1950.

This might have been common off-season discussion. The Phillies and Reds each made offers for Robinson in December 1954. I'll see if I can find more of these.https://www.newspapers.com/clip/48799731/
