Completely agree with this. Some of the comments are confusing metrics with benchmarks. Metrics are great. But figure out what’s right for YOUR business and take the benchmarks with a grain of salt.

I've seen lots of fields move quickly in my career but none as quickly as generative AI
This field is evolving at light speed. The playbook needs to be thrown out and rewritten every quarter or so. I'm sure that's true for this article as well, but it's damn good for right now!

RIFs and layoffs are not a pure sign of company weakness, just as headcount growth is not a sign of pure company strength. Great companies are adjusting their spend profile to the environment, based on the increased cost of capital.
