"will keep x promise" just defines a bubble in personspace, doesn't it? surely there's no way to make a promise that will be kept by every variant person!

i don't actually care about every variant person, i care about the specific chain of your future-selves and how you choose to self-modify "i promise x" also means "i promise not to modify the property of being true to my word" and "i promise not to modify the meaning of x"

so that, maybe every variant of you within whatever distance might not be able to keep promises, but if you are trustworthy you are constrained in how you explore you-space. you never become the promisebreaking type

if the promise contained no specifications, you have to do it even if you now think it's wrong in general, before you make a promise, THINK REALLY HARD and you ARE allowed to specify "i promise x, unless it becomes clear to me that x is unethical"
