Later I want us to fix the system in which we wait till heroes are gone to tell them and each other that they are heroes. Not now but soon.

Woke and read . It’s a collection of misfits and outcasts, seekers and doubters; people dubbed ‘lost’ who found solace and belonging because of her commitment to love, kindness, and grace. Gatekeepers called her theology dangerous. But its fruit looks like Jesus’s.

Something I really appreciate about Rachel Held Evans was that she seemed to genuinely grieve what had become of evangelicalism and wanted to help people find a more humane, faithful way of being Christian. Many people do one or the other but she really did both.

The untimely death of Rachel Held Evans is a chance to remind us all to take nothing for granted & let the people you know how much you appreciate them. I hope she knew how much she was loved.

I wrote this for Mary Oliver, but today as I am grieving today for Rachel Held Evans I am also thinking of the responsibility her death bequeaths to those of us still living to carry on her work. As Psalm 126 says, we go out weeping, carrying seed to sow.

Stop being daft with this Beyoncé / Taylor drumline thing. Yes, artists have incorporated marching bands/drumlines in performances before but TIMING is everything. The world has been BUZZING since . This ain’t no coincidence.

Don't just pray for God to open doors in your life. Ask God which doors you need to start closing yourself first.

God is close to the humble. Not the theologically perfect. Not the well versed. Not the “woke”. The humble.

I don't know why y'all insist on pushing this narrative that poverty is a better life than having money. But, I'm here to collect every single cent y'all wanna give away, if having more money bothers you so. It would give me great pleasure.
