My team has taken bold and ambitious action in nearly 16 months to better the lives of New Yorkers — and we’re just getting started!
With a four-year term ahead of us, we’ll continue our work to make the New York Dream a reality.
Snow has already started falling in some areas as this storm continues to make its way across the state.
Please stay home if you can — better safe than stuck on the road! — and continue to monitor local forecasts.
Widespread #snow continues this evening within high impact winter storm. Snow rates up to 1.5" per hour are possible. Snow will mix w/ sleet & freezing rain in ne PA tonight. Another round of intense snow is expected Friday morning. Snow lifts slowly out of the area Friday night.
No New Yorker should live in the subway system or on our streets.
That's why we're making a new, $7.2 million investment to help formerly homeless New Yorkers with mental illness transition from inpatient care to supportive housing.
New York is taking action to end the puppy mill pipeline.
Dogs, cats, and rabbits across New York deserve loving homes and humane treatment. Today I signed legislation to help protect the welfare of animals across the state. 🐾
We are closely monitoring and are prepared for a winter storm that will impact most of the state starting this morning through Saturday. Some areas in higher elevations may see more than a foot of snow.
New Yorkers should monitor local forecasts & exercise caution if traveling.
A long duration winter storm will begin later today and continue through the day Friday before ending early Saturday. New Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued. No significant changes to forecast snowfall amounts. #nywx#vtwx#mawx#ctwx
President Kyle Bragg on a well-deserved retirement!
Kyle has been an outstanding leader for New York workers throughout his four-decade career & I'm proud to call him a friend. On behalf of the State of New York, thank you for your service!
Picked up some great gifts from some incredible New York small business owners today at the 10,000 Small Businesses Holiday Market.
If you're out doing your holiday shopping, be sure to shop local!
New York is the place where people and businesses want to be. But too many can’t afford to live or move here.
We need to take bold, ambitious action to tackle the housing crisis — and that starts with my plan to build 800,000 new units of housing across New York.
Today I joined @NYCMayor and the New New York Panel's leaders, @RichardBuery and @DanDoctoroff, at @ABetterNY to talk about how we can make sure New York City doesn’t just recover from pandemic, but that we build a city that works for everyone.
Today we remember the children & educators who were senselessly killed on what should have been a normal school day at Sandy Hook elementary.
We will never forget those taken from us on that horrific day, & we will never stop working to end gun violence & protect our children.
These proposals from the New New York Panel are the bold, ambitious solutions we need right now as a city & as a state.
This is the right approach, and we will work closely with the Panel and partners at all levels of government to implement them.
We have to make it easier to get to work — both in Manhattan & throughout the boroughs.
The New New York Panel's proposals will give New Yorkers better access to jobs and decrease commute time to Midtown and other business districts.
We need to make business districts places to live, work, & socialize. To do that, the Panel suggests we:
✅ Make districts more mixed-use & flexible
✅ Make districts more modern
✅ Make districts more pedestrian-oriented
In the decade before the pandemic, we created jobs at 3x the rate of housing — 1.25 million jobs & only 400,000 homes.
This is a crisis.
And it's why in my State of the State address, my housing plan will include proposals to create 800,000 new housing units across New York.
Over the past five months, the New New York Panel has worked around the clock to develop a coordinated action plan to make New York City the best place to work & to live.
Their conclusions are creating the roadmap to help make that a reality. ➡️https://bit.ly/3YotutF
’s #PowerBreakfast to share the New New York Panel’s action plan — a set of proposals to help make New York City the best place to work, and to serve as a roadmap for the city’s future.
With flu cases and hospitalizations on the rise, remember: The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones this holiday season is by getting your annual flu shot.

On this historic day, I'm reminded of the New Yorkers who have helped lead the LGBTQ+ rights movement — and of the work left to do.
As governor, I’ll never stop fighting for our LGBTQ+ community.
Today is a good day.
Today, America takes another step toward equality. Toward liberty and justice not just for some, but for all.
Because today, I sign the Respect for Marriage Act into law.
NEW: Families across New York are now eligible for up to $1,126 to help heat their homes this winter!

Like we saw in November’s historic snowstorm, Mother Nature can bring extreme weather conditions in the blink of an eye.
I was proud to sign this legislation to cut red tape and help New Yorkers stay safe and warm during emergencies.
New Yorkers who use propane to heat their homes will have some breathing room when it comes to supply under a law signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul. https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/rochester/ny-state-of-politics/2022/12/12/new-law-meant-to-strengthen-heating-supply-for-new-york-homeowners…
to help combat hate and support communities at risk of hate crimes.
When someone harms a member of our community, they're picking a fight with 20 million New Yorkers — starting with their governor.
While this won’t bring back the New Yorkers tragically killed in 1988 — including a close family friend, Colleen Brunner — this is a major step in giving families the justice they deserve.
I applaud the federal government for their unrelenting quest to ensure justice is served.

Across the state, we’re making strategic economic development investments to make communities better places to live, work and play.
In the past month alone, we’ve announced funding to support key projects in:

Every nursing mother deserves access to a safe, hygienic, and convenient space to pump in the workplace.
With legislation I signed this week, all employers in New York will be required to provide quality breastfeeding accommodations for employees who need it.
In 1948, Eleanor Roosevelt, one of the greatest New Yorkers in our history, helped create the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
On #HumanRightsDay, we reaffirm New York's commitment to preserving the inalienable rights Eleanor Roosevelt & so many others fought to enshrine.
