Be sure to check your WX before launch. Have personal minimums, ex. no go flying over 15kts Xwind. Know your ACs Xwind numbers from the POH. If landing in Xwind, be ready to go around for another pass. Have other airports in mind if all else fails.

For about 2 years my Alaska bro flew sailplanes exclusively due to personal economic reasons--it was cheaper than powered. Last year his engine quit on approach to airport, he landed on freeway without damage to plane or cars. Onlookers amazed. Because tranferable unpowered skill
