It’s important to hope, but hope is very mercurial and changes over time. I hope I can cure this cancer. I hope I can live another year. I hope my pain can be controlled. I hope my loved ones are with me when I die. I hope I get a chance to tell family and friends I love them.

We should be focusing on realistic expectations and palliative and hospice care. Not Hail Mary chemo therapy.
