Just like “natural” arsenic can kill you, so can a medical error or side effect. There is genuine harm in the allopathic system, that if not acknowledged, will drive people away. It can feel good to say “You are wrong and dumb too.” But does not change minds or outcomes.

I agree that disdain is bad, and I hope I've never called anyone dumb. Thanks for the conversation.

I'd take her more seriously if she'd stop using the word "allopathic" so much. Hint: It's a disparaging word coined by Samuel Hahnemann, the creator of homeopathy, to describe medicine that is not homeopathy. Only the woo-friendly use it to describe conventional medicine.

Very lawyerly. Pick the better term if you don’t like allopathic. Educate me. It is common to discredit the individual based on some detail and then disregard anything of value. People are misusing CAM or being sloppy in definitions. Be consistent in what the rules are.

This is Twitter. I have an extensive body of writings going back to 2004 explaining, sometimes in excruciating detail, why I consider CAM to be a bogus term. They can't be encompassed in even a Tweetstorm. I'd start posting representative links, but I doubt you'd be interested.

Come, come, now. What serious scientist would make so many assumptions about others on such limited data? Super unscientific.
Let’s try that again

I made a conclusion based on your tone.

Umbereen S. Nehal, MD, MPH @usnehalReplying to @AlanLevinovitz @EdzardErnst and 3 othersWe jusr have to be measured. No one used term “dumb”, but pointing out the general tone. And those who have a chip on their shoulder can hear that implied in certain words. That being said, obviously, some people will get offended no matter how measured one’s words.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Well, it’s still quite limited data for the conclusion you drew. Whatever my comment may be about the “tone” the lay public hears from scientists generally, and the response that creates, you should have your own standard, one that is fit for a serious scientist.

Please spare me the "fit for a serious scientist" bit. I reject whatever behavioral and speech parameters to which you think I should constrain myself. I choose my own parameters as I see fit, just as you do.

You are responsible for your own standard and you can define “fit for a serious scientist.” If you quote my tweet and point out you are mirroring me, look, I’m flattered to influence you. But why are you ceding that control to me? It is not a position of strength.

In retrospect, I guess I should've included an emoji to indicate I was pointing out the inconsistency of your lecturing me for jumping to conclusions when you did the same based on "tone."

Got it on right/wrong of my tweets. Now elevate this. IVF and the n of 1 types of tinkering. What are your thoughts on the evidence? Up to snuff? Have yet to learn anything from this exchange apart from you opinion of me. Please impart some useful knowledge to Twittersphere.

Also, unless I missed it, I was never informed of what the correct term is if not allopathic for medicine practiced by MDs. We should include the med schools at Hopkins and Columbia so they can be corrected as well. https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/preprofadvising/pre-medhealth/overview/allopathic-medicine/ …
