On job interviews in tech I have mentioned that I have worked in the food service industry, sales, & as a nannie during employment "gaps." This was also frowned upon. It's all classism. They cherry pick "brats too picky for any jobs" or "LOL, flipping burgers!" as cover for it.

I worked as a temp for a while. You soon learnt that if a job paid basic hourly it'd be hard. The more the pay per hour, the more fun the job was likely to be. Data entry pays poorly; making sure corporate meetings room look "just so" pays much much more...
