One of the arguments about why research into medical cannabis is very so-so is that the right federal control over the research and the samples means that the quality of cannabis they use is very subpar and many good studies never get off the ground thanks to red tape.
In other words, a lot of researchers give up, their samples in no way reflect reality, and the DEA refuses to tighten its grip over the bureaucracy of this research. This is not to say the claimed miracle cures are out there, but the researchers aren’t getting a fair shot.
The claims are BS, true. But humans are going to do drugs. If they are, cannabis would be my preferred agent over all including EtOH. Its toxicity profile is excellent, its LD50 is so high it’s basically theoretical. I’ve never had to intubate someone for being too high.
I realize in the pursuit of legalization they use medical marijuana as a wedge, thus the claims are inflated. It’s more of a venal sin. So while I don’t condone it, I understand.
