The #AlfieEvans case has nothing to do with socialized medicine. The government is not even a party to the case. It's the parents and the hospital. Have you even actually read the decision? https://www.judiciary.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/alder-hey-v-evans.pdf …https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/989220805258235904 …

It is a grim reminder that systems of socialized medicine like the National Health Service (NHS) vest the state with power over human lives, transforming citizens into subjects.

He is also mixing up the Charlie Gard case and Alfie Evans case. Italy has not proposed mitochondrial experimental treatments. I'd say lucky he isn't your President, but then...there is Trump...https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/989220799826579456 …

        Jamie Murphy added,

Alfie’s parents, Kate James and Tom Evans, wish to seek experimental treatments for what is thought to be a mitochondrial condition. Italy has granted Alfie citizenship and offered to transport him to a Vatican hospital.

The judiciary in UK independent of Govt too. arguably more so as judges etc not political appointees. Judicial activism very different in Uk. No lawyer runs for office here. And so on. Worth pointing out no UK private hospital could deal with such a complex case.

When private hospitals can't deal with something, patient ends up in NHS hospital. Most A&E staff can tell you about patients being rushed by ambulance to them when things go wrong. and guess what, NHS don't charge for this (ITU different story).

But if they actually paid attention to the facts of the case that would get in the way of the narrative they're creating. Funny how many in the RW love to complain about "virtue signaling" and people playing "SJW" but in reality it's most of what they do. Classic projection.

The courts are part of the government. The hospital is government run. It’s misleading to say they aren’t.

The #AlfieEvans case is very sad. I share the parents' wish that there was something more that could be done for their son. I share the hospital's conclusion that all available evidence points to allowing him to die with some dignity.
