Indeed. It endlessly frustrates me how few physicians are willing to speak out against antivaxers. They seem to think that if they ignore them they'll go away.https://twitter.com/kidoctr/status/985562149350203392 …

I think more pediatricians and #tweetiatricians need to be involved in active #vaccine advocacy both here and on other social media outlets. Although small in number, #antivaxxers are very loud and disruptive.

The first question I asked my kids Ped was if she allowed unvaccinated children in her practice. She said only if there were true contradictions. Otherwise they were not taken under care.

But they don't go away... They bully and attempt to intimidate people - usually young mothers - by using their own unfortunate circumstances as anecdotal evidence that vaccines are bad. Seems many of them have serious psychological issues.

I will point out though, that there are a number of physicians/scientists that do speak out. @pediatricskc, @PedsGeekMD, @kidoctr, @DrJaimeFriedman, @Kidsdoc1Rick, @doritmi are a few I can name off the top of my head. I appreciate how much they do.

TY. 1 problem is AV’s pose off the wall questions or post links that look legit and many people aren’t equipped to counteract. Also they want absolutes and don’t understand evidence or science.

I agree. They need to have signs in their office and warnings up about these snake oil remedies. I think it would do a lot of good.

that is bc everyone cannot stand up to the antivaxx in person, like me. initially u have to hear their rage but if u have enough patience, i have had luck. Even for GMOs i got haters for my article but i just replied and asked ques. finally some could see the point.

It does take a thick hide, though. You're a surgeon -- surgeons are tough. Pediatricians tend to be more sweetly accommodating. Well, not me. Annoying anti-vaxers is my hobby.
