I find a lot of folks are ignorant of the maths behind these reported increases in risk too. I.E. a report might claim a 25% increase in risk due to an activity, when a person's base risk might be somewhere around 0.4%, meaning the final total risk is.... 0.5%

Yeah, I've been meaning to do a post about risk factors like that. Also the relative risk for alcohol is only 1.15.

I know the iarc is a bit discredited these days but no one disputed their classification of group 1 carcinogen for alcohol so can't say I am surprised. And some drinks like vodka have 60% alcohol so...

Alcohol is a much stronger carcinogen for other cancers (e.g., esophageal, oropharyngeal, liver) than it is for breast, with much higher relative risks for heavy drinkers.
