Traditional Chinese medicine is essentially useless at everything except driving endangered species closer to extinction. Qi is a myth from the days of pre-anatomy, resurrected by Mao to boost national morale.https://twitter.com/FriendsOfSciMed/status/973169277036519425 …

I don't know about that. I have been hearing a lot of good things lately about the positive effects it has had on friends. It seems to be a huge stress reducer which has a knock on effect to a lot of other things.

Pure placebo & regression to the mean. The reality is that many of the conditions we face have a large psychological component or are self-limiting. If the former, then any treatment intervention will make a patient feel better even if it's useless (homeopathy, acupuncture..)..

..if it's self limiting (cold/minor pain) then people tend to seek treatment at their worst. Their condition then 'regresses' to the normal state, which is the norm. Then tend to attribute positive effect to intervention even if it did nothing

Maybe that's the case and I'm not saying I think it cures cancer but I have heard a number of first hand stories of how it has helped people with various issues and I think that is down to stress reduction.

People also swear by homeopathy. It's still water.
