Acupuncture is NOT an exception to the rule about there not being a shred of good evidence supporting alternative medicine approaches.https://twitter.com/DrPosDev/status/971783232558698496 …

Good advice- and it's not just about children. For most there's not a shred of evidence- acupuncture an exception. Talking to Your Child's Doctor About Alternative Medicine - New York Times http://nzzl.us/0bmJRgV  via @nuzzel thanks @gorskon

I can’t tell you how many of my friends who are generally scientifically literate think acupuncture is legitimate. Sigh.

I just Tweeted yesterday about how around a decade ago I thought that there might be something to acupuncture. Then I extensively read the scientific literature on acupuncture. The more I read, the more underwhelmed I became, until I concluded acupuncture is a theatrical placebo.

I was once offered acupuncture for severe sacroiliac pain. The following day I was completely pain free. I’m not making this up. Oh, I nearly forgot..I didn’t accept the offer.

Similarly, scheduled flu shot for a Saturday last fall. Woke up sick as a dog on Sunday! Oh no! But wait, I'd gotten busy and missed my vaccine appointment...

Acupuncture, massage, and manipulation rec provided by low quality evidence in recommendation 1. Mod quality if you are looking to at rec 2. Agree it's better than putting someone on opioids, but doesn't mean there is data to support it
