I used to think that there might be something to acupuncture. I really did. But the more I evaluated the evidence, the more underwhelmed I was. Acupuncture is a theatrical placebo, nothing more. Harriet Hall agrees.https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/false-claims-for-acupuncture/ …

Sir: in science, peer review matters more than opinion. Please refer to the papers below, prior to reaching populist conclusions: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3658605/ … https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK409491/pdf/Bookshelf_NBK409491.pdf …

Sir: That meta-analysis does not show what you think it does,no matter how much it's spun. In fact, it's good evidence that acupuncture effects are clinically insignificant!https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/can-we-finally-just-say-that-acupuncture-is-nothing-more-than-an-elaborate-placebo/ …

Blogs, opinion pieces and news items hardly constitute evidence sir. If you have something to say about the methods, credibility of evidence of the studies that I offered, I'm all ears. As long as it is not just your opinion....These studies passed peer review, you have not....

I posted a link to my blog post because explaining the flaws would have taken a 200-Tweet Tweetstorm! The post extensively discussed the problems I had with the evidence, methods, credibility, and analysis done in that meta-analysis. You obviously didn't bother to read it.

and that's where you'll be wrong....Whereas I can bet money you haven't read the 2017 update nor the NIHR paper by McPherson...

Dr Gorski, you are atttacting low quality cranks these days. Have you considered a Kickstarter to fund the acquisition of a better class of nutter? They're still fairly inexpensive as they're abundant.

I'm surprised they're making it through Twitter's quality filters. I have them set so that I don't see replies from new accounts and accounts that haven't verified their email addresses with Twitter, plus the generic Twitter quality filter. That filters >90%.

Here's hoping a small crowdfunding effort may bring in the sort of crackpots one could be proud of.
