Sadly, @EdzardErnst is way off-base here. In the US, DOs are the equivalent of MDS. Yes, DOs learn osteopathic manipulation on DO school, but do the same residencies afterwards and go on to practice in a manner indistinguishable from MDs. Having taught at an osteopathic school, I can say that the vast majority of the students don’t buy into some of the manipulation quackery. Those that do are typically the weaker ones in terms of the biomedical sciences. About 20% of the manipulation is validated with evidence. 1

If I could design the entire curriculum, manipulation would be treated like every specialty...one month of the basics (that essentially covers beginning PT) then if the student wants more, they can do a residency with manipulation. /2
