Sadly, @EdzardErnst is way off-base here. In the US, DOs are the equivalent of MDS. Yes, DOs learn osteopathic manipulation on DO school, but do the same residencies afterwards and go on to practice in a manner indistinguishable from MDs. Well, I noticed in the ER, when a D.O. was treating my 9 yr old. I asked an ER MD, “What the hell is a DO?” She laughed, conspiratorially.
