Through all of this I'm still failing to see the extreme harm that is unique to this show that justified the need to be called out by Dr Eugene Gu. The largest harm I have seen is doctors eroding trust on Twitter with toxic language to non-colleagues when discussing healthcare.

It was my language that Gu called out, and rightly so. I went overboard. Bit he's never seen the show.

Consider the people who may need to here the corrective medical information you want to share. That audience would be fans of the show. Toxic language about it could be a turnoff. Strong refutation of something dangerous.. I think that's ok. I don't enjoy debate, but my two cents

I understand and agree, which is why I deleted those tweets. Doesn't matter because she screenshot them and reposted them to her followers, then she protected her account. Nice little echo chamber she's created as Dr. Gorski said.

Also, they use tone trolling as a weapon against critics who are so angry about the utter bullshit being presented as "realistic" in #TheResident that they might use strong language. This is an intentional tactic: Piss doctors off and then complain when they get emotional.

I have no doubt you are correct. But it gets them the publicity they want and need. So to that end, I'm done discussing it. No need to give them more exposure that they don't deserve.

On the other hand, if no one pushes back, then the public will assume. that #TheResident is realistic and making valid criticisms of medicine.

It is certainly fiction, entertainment, and not a documentary. At least it does not promote anti-vaccination as I understand she once wrote a show showing the dangers of that (probably with inaccuracies). Truly dangerous falsehoods should be corrected, I agree.

So your standard for medical dramas is, "At least it doesn't support antivax views"? Sorry, but that's how your statement came across to me.

No. I asked before that about the most dangerous things it is doing. I don't think the public gets scared because they get the number of seconds, minutes, hours wrong on a procedure.

It portrays doctors (other than #TheResident and his protege) as greedy, venal, incompetent boobs interested far more in money than in patient care.

A good much of the time, yes. But in this scene, the doctors (not the residents) save the life of a elderly patient. I also think the ways of this wild west resident are going to catch up with him as it did once already. Good TV? Maybe not. But how bad?https://twitter.com/ResidentFOX/status/963442668821884929 …
