The Concentration Camp at Dachau was opened 22 March 1933, and Himmler described it as "the first concentration camp for political prisoners" to be used to restore calm to Germany.

Unions were banned as were all non Nazi political parties, prominent non KDP politicians, especially SPD were sent to concentration camps, the SA were used as auxiliary police etc. Lots changed quickly for many who were not Jews or KDP.
