I wonder who is studying the rise of anti-vax culture and rhetoric. Because it's high now, but it's been around right? I saw a tweet w/ someone asking about getting chicken pox and was born in '98. Beloved...your parents didn't vax. The chicken pox vaccine came out in '84.

Wait, there is one anti-
#CovidVaccine trope that is sort of new, and that's the whole "experimental gene therapy" lie. That's a new trope for a new kind of vaccine, but it builds on old antivax tropes proclaiming that the vaccine schedule is one big experiment. -
Gotcha. I assumed it was all recirculating but wondering where the rhetoric for this particular vaccine gets pulled from since there are so many other shots that have never been picked up like this. Thanks for your work—I’ll read up!

DPT, MMR causing autism, mercury in vaccines - same s**t different day and many of the same grifters and charlatans coming out of the woodwork. (Except this time a much bigger percentage of the population is listening.)

Usenet was great — you weren’t there in the early 90s? Dialup 28.8k and posting in soc.culture was a friendly affair
