        There's a whole wing of quackery that denies that cholesterol or lipids have anything to do with heart disease and deny that statins are effective at reducing the risk of heart disease when used as currently indicated.

        Statins are probably one of very few drugs which are actually pretty all around impressive. They get such bad press. I don't get it. They are so cheap/effective/safe

        The data on statins in secondary prevention are hard to beat. Primary prevention was initially more a mixed bag but enough data now exists that it certainly is justified esp with risk factors. I was convinced by JUPITER (as was USPSTF).

        I mean a 20% reduction in mortality endpoint over 5 years is kind of big amiright? That they exist is proof of the fact that no evidence is ever enough to reverse denialism, it’s never lack of data. The change must come from within. The data, while necessary, is not sufficient.
