Having unwillingly undergone a five week intensive exposure to "gender critical" arguments, I've concluded that a disturbing number of them boil down to taking "Ew, trans people ick me out" and cranking that feeling up to, "Trans people are an abomination against nature/God/etc."

Welcome onboard. The GC movement has lots of overlap with the good old racism, misogyny, and homophobia, which we know now leans antivaxx too. The soup is rich and stinky.

Reading Shrier's narrative, I was immediately struck by parallels to the antivaccine movement. I might have to write a post about those parallels one day after this kerfuffle has abated and I've recovered sufficiently to risk another.

Given how the above one Tweet has already angered a few GC advocates on Twitter, I know that such a post would be a big hit.

If you haven't looked into the paper that spawned the "Rapid-onset Gender Dysphoria" (ROGD) myth yet, it's worth doing so. It's methodology bares striking resemblance to the Wakefield paper.

I did, along with
@stevennovella. A truly awful paper, with methodology basically designed to find a specific result. Whether that design was intentional or not, I can't say.1 reply 3 retweets 100 likes -

You reminded me, though. If I do the post, I have to include a discussion of that paper...

If you're interested I have some archive links and screenshot from posts available on the recruitment websites at the time of recruitment. They seem likely to prime the (highly motivated) participants' responses to questions in the survey.
