TERFS are the folks I have zero tolerance for. Nope. Not even going to entertain their bullshit.

What depresses me is how many self-identified "skeptics" are "gender critical."

Are they simply scared that someone transgender is a better person than them? Or jealous of the same?

I've been asking for a while, though: What is it about the UK that seems to breed these GC people, who seem to be more numerous there? Or is it that they're just more vocal and prominent in the UK?

It's my understanding a lot of it was spread via SiTP in the UK. I didn't see GC crap in New England or DK SiTP, so something across the Channel is rotten.

Seriously? Skeptics in the Pub? (I presume that's what you meant and that's the first thing that popped into my mind, but I could be wrong...)

https://twitter.com/PenguinGalaxy/status/1372561279337041924?s=20 … there was a whole thread, but the flying monkeys hit it.
L. Tock added,
Alice Sheppard @PenguinGalaxyAlthough I know a lot of SITP people including SITP leaders who are passionately supportive of trans people, this thread does pretty much sum up why I'm no longer involved. Also, doing skepticism properly = things are rarely simple. But that's easy to forget. https://t.co/11hlHfT5UxShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Alice is citing a thread that no longer exists. Did the person delete his account over it?

I think he must have done, I didn't see him say anything about deleting :( He talked about SitP from 2009-2015 specifically - clarifying not recent. A lot of SitP people (not me) were very upset about it, feeling all tarred with the same brush, etc.

Interestingly, I happened to be in London on a combined vacation plus professional meeting in September 2015 (my wife and I stayed a few days beyond the meeting) and attended the SitP meeting that month.

Cool! I think around then there must have been three or four separate SitP groups in London, which one was it? What was the talk? My first ever SitP talk was Deborah Hyde on the history behind people's fears of vampires etc.

Oh, geez. I remember it was at a pub in Camden, but not a lot else about it other than that the talk was about bats. (How odd, given the questions of where
#COVID19 came from.)1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes - Show replies
