I'm trying to remember my first. It's so long ago now that I can't...https://twitter.com/MarkHoofnagle/status/1405569032082841611 …

I’m old enough that I think I’m witnessing maybe my 100th conservative moral panic at this point. Is it getting old to anyone else? I mean, for those of that have an attention span longer than a goldfish.

I don't know my first conservative panic, but my favorite is Dungeons & Dragons.

That was probably my first conservative moral panic too. I first discovered AD&D in high school in the late 1970s. Here's the funny thing. The priests at my Catholic high school weren't disturbed by it at all. We used to run adventures during homeroom and lunch.

Mine too, now that you mention it. Early 1980s. We often played on Sunday afternoons in the basement fellowship hall of my Episcopal church. With our priest’s two sons. I think it maybe made a couple of the Southern Baptist converts a little nervous.

That was definitely my first, and I was right in the middle of it: a suicide in my social circle, and D&D was made into a scapegoat for it (by some). So much for addressing the actual social issues behind that suicide. 🙄☹️
