Nah. It's just a conspiracy theory right now. That #LabLeak is *possible* doesn't make it any less a conspiracy theory.

I think I agree - the theory that there is a lab leak has essentially become a conspiracy, even if the question was originally a valid one

The question is valid, but, based on the events of the past year and the evidence at hand, there's literally no way the lab leak hypothesis could possibly be true without a conspiracy to cover it up.

That's not untrue, although you could argue that the Chinese govt has shown little interest in investigating the possibility as well

Interesting that they haven't put massive resources into finding the source like they did with SARS-1. Might lead one to think they already know where it came from.

That's not really true, they've put quite a lot of resource into it already. Perhaps more importantly, the world is making it very clear that China can be convicted without any real evidence so why would they put more effort into it anyway?

Yup. As I like to say, just because the Chinese are uncooperative with outside investigations is not in and of itself evidence for
#LabLeak. It could support#LabLeakTheory, but it could also be human nature when accused by enemies of having caused a global catastrophe.9 replies 8 retweets 41 likes -
I think the uncooperativeness would be there regardless of anything. It doesn’t tell us anything

Precisely! It's human nature, particularly in authoritarian regimes, to react negatively when accused of horrible things and then resist investigations designed to prove those horrible things.

I don’t know if it’s restricted to authoritarian regimes. Can’t imagine if the initial outbreak were in the US and people demanded labs turn over their documents and data to foreign nations, they would get a particularly different response.

You're probably correct. Heck, if Trump were still President, he'd have characterized accusations as "fake news" and likely moved to block labs from cooperating. I'm not sure that any other President would be that much more cooperative.
