If I were *fully vaccinated* and my parents didn't let me go to summer camp after I'd had a lonely and "terrible" school year by their own admission, I wouldn't *never* forgive them but I'd be mad about it for a long, long time. https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/06/teen-parent-cant-agree-safety-covid-care-and-feeding.html …pic.twitter.com/Muer4OaO7i

You do realize, don't you, that no vaccine is 100% effective, which means that even if you're vaccinated there's risk being around a lot of unvaccinated people. A lot less than I'd you aren't vaccinated, but not insignificant. How'd you become such a font of bad #COVID19 takes?🙄

How'd does one end up read a slate advice column and then decide it's a good idea to shame someone writing a letter asking for advice who happens to have a different perception of risk?

A vaccinated teen? Her risk of significant covid is the same as her risk from measles or myocarditis. These kids won't get these years and this time back. IMO @NateSilver538 called this one right- its not rational to say no to activities like these unless you have med conditions.

We're not likely to hit "herd immunity" where this family says they are from anytime soon, thanks to political insanity- you can't logically say no to this and not also keep her out of school. There is a reason the CDC said the science supports no masks for vaccinated individuals

Are you serious? A vaccinated teen? The odds a vaccinated teen suffers a breakthrough and suffers severe disease is so astronomical that it would rival being struck by lightning twice on a sunny day, and then being struck by a car in a forest.

Actually for 15 year olds, the data was actually, literally 100% efficacy.

There’s a low risk of contracting Covid, but isn’t the risk of contracting serious covid basically zero post vaccination? Are vaccinated people supposed to now continue to put their lives on hold because of anti-vax morons?

Remind us of what the risk of serious illness from COVID is to a teenager as a result of infection. Then please tell us by how much that very small risk is reduced when fully vaccinated, assuming the teenager is one of those rare people who has a breakthrough infection.
