The lab leak discussion is both like and unlike a conspiracy theory and therein lies a truly fascinating dichotomy

It's not a conspiracy theory, but any argument that gives zero value to evidence from China against and infinite value to evidence from China in favor is a conspiracy theory. That's fine, but need to multiply by the probability of a successful conspiracy.

It's a conspiracy theory. It has all the elements, particularly a lack of falsifiability.

I think I agree - the theory that there is a lab leak has essentially become a conspiracy, even if the question was originally a valid one
-
The question is valid, but, based on the events of the past year and the evidence at hand, there's literally no way the lab leak hypothesis could possibly be true without a conspiracy to cover it up.
