Also the large numbers of people we are “unable” to take care of, tend not to be immigrants. They seem to do just fine, for the most part. We don’t usually get the most desperate, we often get the most enterprising.

A more valid argument against immigration is that we are taking the best and brightest from countries who desperately need them, but can’t or won’t give them the opportunity.
