Call me paternalistic, but I think it’s better when some things are filtered by those who know better, and radically democritizing newsmaking has quality control and disinformation implications that outbalance “more voices.”

When academics can be forced to go on fishing expeditions through their emails orchestrated by cranks and denialists just because they happen to work for a state university, it's a bad implementation. And, yes, I've been on the receiving end.
