I wrote this back in March after the @WHO report was published. As the #LabLeak hypothesis hits headlines again, it offers some context about why it can’t be dismissed out of hand:https://incision.substack.com/p/whos-report-is-it-anyway-the-murky …

That's a disappointing article. Nothing has changed, evidence-wise, about
#lableak in a year.#LabLeakTheory is no more plausible today than it was in March 2020, increased chatter and@POTUS's order notwithstanding. It's *possible*, but quite unlikely.https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-origin-of-sars-cov-2-revisited/ …3 replies 2 retweets 12 likes -

given the history of lab containment failures, why do you think in this case it is "highly unlikely"? I've followed this story closely and a year ago I had not heard it confirmed that WIV staff had reportedly been sick with flu/Covid like symptoms in Nov 2019.

And none of them were shown to have had
#COVID19. Moreover, all the personnel at the lab are regularly tested for serology, and I've seen multiple reports that there were no cases of COVID there during the relevant timeframe.

There was no known thing at that point bud

And the news report about the intelligence report is, as I wrote, incredibly thin gruel.
#LabLeakTheory has also been around since January 2020.https://crooksandliars.com/2021/05/covid-lab-leak-theory-netanyahus-revenge …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
As I described in my post, the evidence for #LabLeakTheory is about as weak as I’ve seen, and there’s no new evidence. It’s *possible*, but nowhere near as likely as a natural origin for #SARSCoV2, and it’s getting attention out of proportion to its probability of being correct.

I ask again: given the history of lab containment failures, why do you think a lab leak is "highly unlikely" vs a non lab mediated zoonotic spillover, for which evidence is also lacking?
