Over the last month, there has been considerable chatter about the #COVID19 #lableak hypothesis for the origin of #SARSCoV2, and President Biden even ordered US intelligence agencies to look into it. What, if anything, has changed? Is there new evidence?https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-origin-of-sars-cov-2-revisited/ …

Spoiler alert: There's no new evidence to support #LabLeakTheory, and the arguments and evidence behind the claim that #SARSCoV2 was engineered is really weak. Bottom line: it's possible that the virus escaped from a lab, but far less likely than natural origin.

As an aside, I'm predicting that the comments section after my post will be turning into a real shitshow soon, once the #lableak trolls discover it. I apologize to our regular moderator, who will have to deal with it.

Some of the replies to some of my Tweets about this tell me that my prediction above is a rather obvious and safe one.😂

I’m so glad you did this research. I was really starting to wonder what was up. I was thinking it’s probably just politics and it with this info (or lack of it) that’s still the most likely scenario for the renewed govt interest.

What about the claims this research was being done at BSL-2 instead of at BSL-4?

I was staying out, letting virologists speak to it. But then, as usual, in a vacuum of evidence, the small but shouty motivated contrarians and drama queens filled the space with easy narratives and hand waving. There was a lot of good pushback this week, which I'm supporting.

Wasn't Trump best buddies with XI? He should have been on the phone right away with him. Or were they best buddies? Busy with Putin maybe.

I read an interesting article on how to dealing with ambiguity. Lab leak? We may not know - it's possible but unlikely. Bottom line, we don't need to know everything immediately and need to learn to live with uncertainty.

If it's a possibility, why are people censored for mentioning it?

The only new information, not evidence, is the hospitalization of three Wuhan Virus Institution personnel in November of 2019 for respiratory illness. Likely patient confidentiality will limit any further information.
