My questions:
- Is 4 consec positive amino acids truly unique?
- Is multiyear lag between collection date vs submission date in GenBank highly unusual?

Thanks for your answer, David. I know what I know and what I don't know - and protein motifs of viruses fall into the latter category. For debunking purposes, it would be interesting to see some examples of other viral proteins which have 4 positively charged AA's in a row.

I’m not an expert on viruses, but I can search protein sequences. There are viruses that seem to have the precise HKNNK motif, e.g. sweet potato virus, placeda virus, Saudi moumouvirus.
