In most cases, if you send me a YouTube video as "evidence" for your position, I will not watch it. I've found that watching videos is the least efficient use of my time, and I don't do it, with very uncommon exceptions; e.g., it's less than 5 or 10 minutes, I *might* watch it.

If the video is 30+ minutes long, it's virtually certain that I will not watch it. Again, it's a very inefficient use of my time, and I have better things to do.

Finally, if it's 90+ minutes long (as, it seems, so many of the videos antivaxxers and #COVID19 cranks like to cite), It's virtually guaranteed that I won't watch it. Not only are such videos an inefficient use of my time, but they're usually boring and repetitive.

Anyone who has looked for video games tips has learned this. Video: "How to get past Puzzle X in Game Y" "Hey you guys, I haven't made a video in a long time, because my boss at work..."

That’s the algorithm whipping people to make longer videos and keep eyes on the site for longer.

It’s definitely below the ‘expert opinion’ tier of the hierarchy of evidence... ...not even sure it’s at the most reliable end of the hierarchy of bullshit

I watch the first one minute. Get their credentials and hear their first false claim. And then check out.

We know students won’t watch something longer than about 7 minutes online. The “watch this hour video” posts are so lol. I’ve never clicked one.

What, you don't "publish" your research as YouTube videos? I've usually heard that some people watch videos because they just don't have the patience to read and/or they want to multitask. Those aren't great positions to try to engage complex issues.

All kidding aside, @JoVEJournal is a peer reviewed scientific publication that accepts video content, especially for methodology in order to improve reproducibility. Apparently one needs to be painstaking at the bench to produce good science 😉
