Yeah, it might be necessary for me to revisit this topic, given how all the conspiracy theory wingnuts falsely conflate “man made” and “intentional release” with “lab origin.”

I've said specifically it could have been a exposure from collection of a unregistered variation from serial passaging from in vitro to in vivo. often times petri dishes aren't as clean as you would like them to be.
-
Yeah, I might have to revisit this topic soon, given how all the “plandemic” wingnuts are coming out of the woodwork over this and telling me how my posts about it last year have “aged poorly.”

And at any rate both options are totally unsupported by meaningful evidence. There's good evidence against deliberate engineering. There's no direct evidence for or against a field sample being accidentally released from the WIV. Neither option is anywhere near "most likely."

Yep. As I like to say, it’s *possible* that there was a lab leak of a stored natural coronavirus sample, but there’s no good evidence for it and it’s *nowhere* near as likely an explanation as zoonotic transmission.

The narrative that the left has changed rings untrue... I don’t recall them ever ruling it out 100% but rather saying it still seems to be the least likely explanation based on genetic evolution.
-
Correct, although we can say with a high degree of certainty, based on the genetic sequence of
#SARSCoV2 alone, that it was not “engineered” in a lab.
