“Medical marijuana” is and has always been mostly a marketing term to lead the way to legalization for recreational use. The evidence base supporting just weed (as opposed to pharmaceutically purified cannibinoids) to treat anything has always been highly underwhelming.https://twitter.com/SBMPediatrics/status/1397144459889029120 …

Here's the way I look at it. This post is 6 years old, but the evidence base isn't much better now than it was when I wrote the post, and the post basically holds up. 6/https://respectfulinsolence.com/2015/06/24/does-medical-marijuana-work-the-answer-is-mostly-no-and-we-dont-know/ …

So legalize marijuana for recreational use, like alcohol, for instance. Tax and regulate the hell out of it, as we do for alcohol. But don't claim it treats or cures anything without good evidence, and anecdotal evidence is the weakest form. 7/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/medical-marijuana-as-the-new-herbalism-part-1-the-politics-of-weed-versus-science/ …

Basically, as I wrote 7 years ago, medical marijuana is the new herbalism. 8/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/medical-marijuana-as-the-new-herbalism-part-1-the-politics-of-weed-versus-science/ …

There is a way to show that medical marijuana can be science-based medicine, but I've yet to see very much of it in the arguments of advocates. 9/9https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/medical-marijuana-as-the-new-herbalism-part-5-turning-herbalism-into-science-based-medicine/ …

Forgot to add: But I have, however, endured a lot of "pharma shill gambit" attacks for having the temerity to suggest that the emperor has no clothes when it comes to medical marijuana. (Well, mostly. Maybe the emperor is wearing just a thong).

Cannabis may not be an all-out cure, but it can definitely produce anticancer effects in humans in at least some cases. In this post I summarize a dozen case studies, series, and clinical trial showing an anticancer effect. Most are on PubMed.https://cannabisdeclaration.com/news/published-case-studies-and-a-clinical-trial-showing-cannabis-produces-anticancer-effects-in-humans/ …

BCC treated using cannabis extract in 12 days, with oncologist report. 'cure' is a strong word, to me it implies it will work 100% for everyone, but I don't believe that's the case. I do however believe it has worked for a number of people, including Biochemist, Dennis Hill.pic.twitter.com/SSA9j5YbK2

His case is interesting. He had Stage 3 Prostate cancer. By chance a friend mentioned cannabis oil. Being a Scientist, he was a sceptic, and so did his research. Not only did he end up treating it, he also wrote papers explaining exactly how it works. http://www.whale.to/a/cancerspecific.html …pic.twitter.com/1jWln88dvD
