Amazing books. What a journey. I vividly remember being captivated by the 1965 revised 2nd edition books - same ones my dad read when he was a kid. Plan on passing them along to my kids.

Are you sure? For many people my age I have found the books spoke to me at a very specific age leading me to a series of friends and decisions that made who I am today. As an adult they may just be another fantasy novel.

I doubt that would be the case. I've read and reread the books many times since I was 13. In fact, I reread them every few years and sometimes just read a chapter or two when I'm in the mood.

I'm with you there. There was no feeling quite like finishing The Two Towers and immediately grabbing The Return of the King, and finding out Mr Frodo was still alive. "I knew he would be!" I consoled myself.
