But that's not really what he said. He said that he bets that outdoor masking hasn't averted a single #COVID19 fatality, which is probably wrong but unfalsifiable. That's the sort of statement that has drifted from the reasonable to sounding very crank-like, with its certainty.

Yes, but he made a near-absolute statement. No one would have had a problem with it if he had said that he thought masking outdoors probably doesn't do a lot of good. Instead, he said that he doubted that it had averted even a single

Remember the Sturgis SD motorcycle rally w/ 460K ppl in 2020? Such super spreader events ignored physical distancing and *hold on* mask wearing outdoors. The CDC report was "just" MN but let's just ignore secondary/tertiary spreading nationwide.
