And exactly what would be Dr. Gorski's competences here? What would recommend him as an expert in this? Surely not publications on the topic and definitely not any scientific work I am aware of?

He has been debunking exactly this kind of scientific misinformation for decades. And note that his post draws on experts in the field for the points about the trials. He certainly has more on-point expertise than Dr. Doshi.

Note that in this article, Dr. Doshi tried to downplay vaccines’ effectiveness by arguing for including cases not identified as Covid-19 in the count. Highly problematic.

I will not waste my time with "debunkers", but I read the Doshi piece in the context of his body of work asking for clinical trial data sharing, which I think we can all agree would be beneficial. Well maybe not Dr. Gorski since I assume he doesn't analyze any data.

If you read Dr. Gorski’s piece you would see he agrees with transparency in trials. The issue is misrepresenting vaccines data in the quest for it. I think all of us can agree that’s wrong. At least, I hope so.

Actually, reading Doshi’s
#CovidVaccine piece in the context of his past body of work makes it worse, not better. He’s been downplaying vaccine efficacy based on bad arguments at least since the H1N1 pandemic of 2009-10. It’s his MO.3 replies 4 retweets 46 likes -
That Doshi piece was one of the worst things I've read in the pandemic (high bar). The fact he is an editor of a major journal and publishing rubbish is pitiful. It's frankly embarrassing.

Citing the NNV is one of the dumber things someone can conceive. One has to try to not understand basic application of study design in the real world to make such an elementary error.

I don't care what people have written in the past. When they right rubbish in the middle of a pandemic, I have no forgiveness. NO ONE MAKES PEOPLE WRITE THESE HORRIBLE PIECES.

I think his history makes me think that when he writes these things in the vaccines context, it’s more than just an error. It’s at best a deep rooted bias.

It’s definitely a deep bias. This is a man who gave a presentation questioning the flu vaccine at an antivaccine conference in the middle of the H1N1 pandemic in 2009.

Is it ok to untag myself here? I have a very low bar for pandemic conversation, but this is under it.
