Voluntary, peaceful exchange (fundamental to libertarianism and classical liberalism) accomplished a great deal more in reducing poverty than digireste top down efforts. I grew up in India in the digireste regime. I worked in India as adult as restrictions on markets were lifted.

Libertarian ideas are what? There is a spectrum. And we might well be talking past each other. People often think AnCap when they say libertarian. Pretty sure that isn’t what Stossel means. He is not hard core. But increasing the space for peaceful and voluntary exchange is good.

Whenever that has happened, people have benefited. I do not include IMF/World Bank programs in this- because they are not libertarian, not market. They are state programs, with every that entails.
