40% first dose with 40% past infection with decent overlap gets you to like 60% with *some* immunity, while people still taking precautions. That’s making reproduction a lot harder.

Exactly. The percentage vaccinated in older age groups who have been vaccine eligible longer is way higher than a third.

Yeah, not sure where people get this binary notion that it’s herd immunity or nothing. The more the population gets vaccinated, the easier and easier it will be control the spread with other measures

A lot of people also seem to understand herd immunity as a sudden and complete thing - like cases accelerate until Steve from Hoboken gets it and tips us over into herd immunity and not one more person gets it.
