About that "study" on masks in the fringe speculative journal Medical Hypotheses...besides its being utter BS, its author Baruch Vainshelboim doesn't even work for @Stanford or the Palo Alto VA! https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-629043235973 …

As long as we make it about attacking people for not being "appropriately affiliated" we will cover the true debate. So what if masks are "effective"? How effective? The fact they are effective doesnt mean they should be mandated. Who cares if its Stanford or not?

lots of people care if its Stanford because Stanford medical has an amazingly good reputation when it comes to procedure&what they'll speak on&professionals in the fields. this was said by an exercise technician.most people would rather hear professionals, not random exercise guy

Cranks crave the aura of respect from such institutions. Antimaskers are frequently citing this as a "@Stanford study" or a "Stanford/NIH study." First, it's not a study; it's an opinion piece/review article. Second, it's not an "NIH study" just because it's indexed in PubMed.

Third, because Baruch Vainshelboim appears not to have an affiliation with @Stanford, it's not a "Stanford study," either. Pointing out that it's not a study, likely not from Stanford, and definitely not an "NIH study" is very important to counter antimaskers' citing it as such.

The fact that you use the term "antimaskers" is part of the problem. You need to understand: those that you call "antimaskers" are not necessarily against the effectiveness, they are often against the mandate. Which has no scientific support. Additionally....
