Antivaxxers love to pretend that #VAERS is the only vaccine safety monitoring system because of its limitations and design. It’s intended as an early warning system, not a definitive indicator of causation or incidence of adverse events after vaccination. 2/

In other words, when it comes to the question of whether a given adverse event might be caused by a given vaccine,
#VAERS is hypothesis generating, NOT hypothesis confirming or rejecting. Antivaxxers infer causation when none can be concluded from VAERS data alone. 3/3Show this thread

Anti-Vaxxers also like to talk about how hidden VAERS is. As far as I know, it's listed on every VIS (which they should bother to read). And with the Covid vaccine, reporting is encouraged! We want to know if there are issues. Vaccine reactions are not hidden!

Why do they turn to VAERS? Don’t they know anyone can report anything on there—including becoming a butt crushing Hulk? /sarcasm

Because they only know how to read the headlines and not the fine print.
