Apologies for disappointing you, my inbox is flooded with medical advice queries: I could answer them 24/7 and still not get to all of them. Honestly I’m not sure what to do, literally dozens every day, and each one requires thought, most provide incomplete information.https://twitter.com/fairy_garcia_/status/1382885991061544972 …

Ignore them and only answer what you can answer and have time to answer. I probably don't get (and never got) nearly as many such emails as you, given your prominence during the pandemic, but I've nonetheless learned a secret. Most actually don't really expect an answer.

I suspect that many are a "last best hope" effort, so the know they've done everything they can imagine.

Sure, and I know it's hard. I get emails from people whose family member has fallen for quackery or antivax. I answer if I have time and think I can contribute something useful because I feel for these people. But I don't feel too guilty any more when I'm too busy and just can't.

Basically, you have to protect your own mental health first. You can't save everyone. In trying to do so lies the way to madness.
