Brave mavericks are contrarians. Occasionally (very occasionally) they can be correct, but far more often they are not. They often have a tendency to stray further and further from God science in pursuit of being a maverick. 3/

That’s because brave maverick doctors think of themselves as better than the rest of the herd, more creative, more “independent” thinkers. They hate any constraints on the godlike autonomy of a doctor, such as evidence-based guidelines. They think they don’t need them! 4/
